What is the Resist Recovery Program?

The Resist Program offers an effective process for lasting change. It explains why sexualised media is so damaging, how to escape negative behaviours, and how to build and maintain resistance against future use.

  • The Problem

    • Churches are full of people struggling with pornography use, with 70% of males and 20% of females actively using. First time exposure is getting younger, with 11.5 being the average
    • Shame, guilt and isolation are rife amongst Christian users, stifling their faith, fellowship, ministries, and love
    • The negative effects include warped attitude and behaviours, distorted sexuality, and reduced wellbeing. Relationships are deeply impacted. Society is marred by an exploitative enterprise that ruins lives, putting our most vulnerable in society at risk
  • The Solution

    • Users need systematic, evidence-based and gospel-centred support in community with others. Forgiveness, empathy, patience, and confidentiality are essential for a sustainable recovery
    • Repentance, abstinence, change, and accountability are foundational for healing
    • Users need to be informed of the many problems caused by porn
    • Users need to develop skills in behaviour change, both practically and spiritually
    • Support groups counter isolation, and promote honesty and commitment

  • Why Resist?

Resist is a 5-week program that informs, convicts, supports, and enables effective change.

    • It is biblical, evidence-based, and very accessible
    • Resources are provided online
    • Participation is free
    • Run in local churches and faith groups by accredited facilitators
    • Non-denominational

How It Works

The Resist Program is a group-based program that can work face-to-face or online. Over each 2 hour session, a facilitator guides the participants through the content and activities, in a confidential environment.

    Evidence Based

The structure, content and approach builds on the best scientific evidence for changing compulsive sexual behaviours. The Resist Program:

    • Extends a supportive environment
    • Encourages corporate participation
    • Ensures confidential
    • Enhances skills in self-management and accountability

    Bible Based

The Resist Program is grace-based and gospel-centered, with a focus on:

    • Jesus and Shame
    • Jesus and Change
    • Jesus, Sex and Relationships
    • Jesus and Love
    • Jesus and Purpose

    Effective

The Resist Program provides content about the effects of sexualised media, how to escape negative behaviours, and how to build and maintain resistance against future use.

The Resist Program realigns the minds, hearts and hands of sexualised media users such that guilt, failure, and ongoing behaviours don’t dominate. It effectively builds practical habits that strengthen resilience.
